Jaffna Kings vs Galle Gallants Preview & Tips - Jaffna tipped to secure LPL grand final berth

Galle Gallants edged past Colombo Kaps in a 13-run win as they secured second place in the standings and a spot in the first Qualifier. 

While the Kings arrive on the back of three consecutive wins in completed matches, they were denied a win in their final group game by the weather. Their clash with Dambulla was one they would have had to have been at their best in with the bat as they looked to chase 204 to win. While they were denied a shot at a win, they were also spared a potential defeat before heading into the Qualifiers. 

Now, the focus for Jaffna will be on building on a pair of wins over Kandy and a victory against Colombo across the latter-stages of July. While their opponents have looked good this season, I back Jaffna to continue their excellent run as they take their place in the grand final at the first time of asking. 

Their last match ended in a 13-run win over Colombo Kaps that consigned their opponents to third in the standings. Batting first, Galle battled their way to 201/6 before restricting their opponents to 188. While Colombo kept their hopes of winning alive, Galle were always on top, and this showed in a strong batting and bowling display. 

Galle arrive with wins in their last two against Jaffna including both of their T20 meetings in 2026. The pair also returned similar records this season, with Galle losing three games compared to Jaffna losing twice. 

I predict that this will be a very entertaining clash in which two well-matched teams come together. With the pressure really on both sides, I am backing Galle to stutter in this one as the favourites in the odds crumble.
