Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI Preview & Tips
Zimbabwe starred in the second T20 against Bangladesh as they posted a competitive score of 247/6 before skittling their opponents for 234.
Bangladesh were once again let down by their batting unit as they fell 13 runs short in their chase of 248 to win.
- Bangladesh have lost their last three ODI matches
Head To Head
In their last 10 ODI meetings Zimbabwe have won four times with Bangladesh winning the other six.
Zimbabwe Form
Zimbabwe ensured that they will win their series against Bangladesh by storming into a 2-0 lead with one game to come.
Their score of 247/6 looked competitive, and so it proved as they restricted their opponents to a total of 234. Ben Curran will take most of the plaudits following his battling 111 not out from 135, with his teammates having a tough time getting around him and scoring runs. In a game that saw almost every player go at well below 100.00, Curran's score along with Brad Evans (58 not out) proved the difference.
With the ball it was Richard Ngarava that did the damage as he took 3/55. With Bangladesh in desperate need of partnerships, Zimbabwe's captain accounted for the middle-order of the touring side. As Zimbabwe are aiming for a stunning 3-0 win, I am backing the home side to surge to yet another triumph.
Bangladesh Form
Bangladesh were well on top in the second ODI as they had Zimbabwe 0/1 and 8/2. While two more wickets did fall for an additional 58 runs, the wickets dried up from there, with only two more falling as Zimbabwe closed on 247/6.
Ben Curran proved the anchor for Zimbabwe with a stunning 111 not out, while Brad Evans provided late positivity as he scored 58 not out from 38. His quickfire knock is what ultimately pushed Zimbabwe's total out of Bangladesh's reach.
With the bat, Bangladesh would have been confident at 122/2 and again at 169/3. However, no batter could truly power on and score a century as Tawhid Hridoy's 60 from 90 was their top score. While there were some solid scores, a lack of a true anchor for the innings cost the touring side.
Now, Bangladesh are merely playing for pride. Currently 2-0 down in the ODI series, Bangladesh have not covered themselves in glory with bat or ball. While they will likely be better in this one, I do not back them to secure the win they need to ensure they are not beaten to nil.
Verdict
I am backing Zimbabwe to complete a 3-0 series sweep as they win the third and final ODI against Bangladesh.
