England needed extra-time to get past Norway 2-1 in their World Cup quarter-final as Jude Bellingham proved the difference between this sides with a brace of goals.

Argentina also needed an additional 30 minutes in their quarter-final as they eventually beat Switzerland 3-1.

England have won four of their eight matches against Argentina, with the latter winning once and three games ending as draws.

England were not at their best against Norway in the quarter-finals and yet they still came out on top as they wore their opponents down in a 2-1 win.

Jude Bellingham scored in injury time of the first-half before netting in the third minute of extra time to secure the win for England. This triumph came on the back of a stunning 3-2 win over Mexico in the round of 16 along with wins over Panama and DR Congo. With a single match standing between England and a shot at glory, they have to get things right in the semi-finals.

Lionel Messi will be the big focus for England's defence, while getting the best out of Bellingham and Harry Kane will be key. Argentina's defence has been poor across the tournament, and they have failed to keep a clean sheet across their last four.

Kane failed to find the back of the net against Norway as Bellingham picked up the slack. In this one, I predict that Kane will hit the back of the net against a defence that has struggled for solidity. If England can put pressure on Argentina's backline then it will crack, and I back Kane to star.

Argentina Form

Argentina have swapped blowing teams away in the group stage of the World Cup for struggling to wins in the knockout stages.

Easy wins over Algeria (3-0), Austria (2-0) and Jordan (3-1) in the group stage have been followed up with a 3-2 win after extra time against Cape Verde, a 3-2 win over Egypt after going 2-0 down and a 3-1 win after extra time against Switzerland.

Argentina's forwards will put a lot of pressure on England's defence as this will likely be an exercise in trying to outscore England rather than scoring once and keeping a clean sheet. However, on the back of three questionable performance against Cape Verde, Egypt and Switzerland, I predict that Argentina will slip out of the World Cup after a loss to their big rivals.
