La Liga Best Bets – Matchday 3

Alaves have enjoyed a very good start to the 2026/27 La Liga season, with the side yet to taste defeat this term. A 3-0 win over Getafe in their opener saw them hit the ground running, while a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano on the road means they have picked up four points from a possible six. Against Villarreal, Alaves are the underdogs, but not by much. The odds suggest this will be a tight match, while their 10 previous meetings, which have seen Alaves win three times whilst losing four games and drawing three matches, alludes to this being competitive. With Villarreal yet to win or lose this season, I am backing Alaves to extend their unbeaten run to three matches as they secure a battling draw. 

Sevilla have been excellent at the start of the new season, with their first two matches ending in wins. Their 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano led into a superb 3-1 with over Athletic Bilbao. In a game they were the underdogs in, Sevilla managed to take a point for each goal scored as they extended their perfect start. While Atletico Madrid will be the toughest opponent they have taken on so far, Sevilla can fall back on an impressive 2-1 home win over their opponents in the league back in April. While tagged as the underdogs in this one, I am backing Sevilla to make it three successive wins and consecutive home victories over an Atleti side that is not quite as tough to defeat as they once were.
