Elversberg vs Bayern Munich
Elversberg have been outstanding in the Bundesliga this season with a brace of pulsating wins seeing them stay perfect after two matches. A 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen in their opener was an outstanding result, but to come back from 3-1 down on the road against Borussia Monchengladbach and win 4-3 was a result that will have the rest of the league taking note. Having scored seven goals in their opening two but conceding five times, I back the home team to breach Bayern's defence, but I do not see their winning run extending to three matches.
Bayern Munich will feel they have a real point to prove at the weekend as they were held in a supremely frustrating 0-0 draw by Schalke. Following on from a comfortable 5-1 win over Stuttgart, their inability to breach Schalke's defence was a huge shock. In all German competitions, Bayern have seen both sides score in three of their last four, and I predict that Bayern will win despite failing to keep a clean sheet.
Brest vs PSG
Brest have been very impressive at the start of the new Ligue 1 season, avoiding defeat across their opening three matches. A pair of 2-2 draws against Le Mans and Toulouse have since been followed by a 2-1 win over Le Havre. The five points they have collected means Brest are just four points off the summit and three points clear of PSG in 14th. Despite being in better form than PSG right now, Brest have lost their last seven against PSG, with the last four ending without Brest scoring a goal. PSG have seen both sides score in their last four in all competitions, and I predict that Brest will have to remain content with finally ending their scoreless run against the league champions.
PSG's league season has started in incredibly poor fashion. A pair of 2-2 draws with Rennes and Lille have been followed by a 2-1 loss to Monaco. Two points from a possible nine means PSG are already seven behind Monaco at the summit. While the season is very young, PSG will know that allowing the gap between themselves and the top to continue to increase could give them a real headache at the business end of the campaign. Fortunately for PSG, they got back to winning ways in the Champions League in midweek. Their statement 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava saw the best side in Europe fill their boots with goals, and I back a first league win to come on the road in their fourth game.
Verdict
I am backing both Bayern Munich and PSG to secure important league wins despite failing to keep clean sheets.
