New England Revolution vs Orlando City

New England Revolution are looking to continue a solid run that has seen the side win their last two.  Victories over New York City and Chicago Fire helped them to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to LA Galaxy, with New England impressing after winning three of the four consecutive away games they have played. Returning to home comforts will see New England very confident after winning eight of their 12 on their own patch and securing the second best home record in the Eastern Conference. With both sides scoring across each of their last five, I do not back the home side to keep a clean sheet. However, I do back them to down an opponent that has lost seven of their 12 on the road.

Orlando City arrive in very good form after avoiding defeat across their last five outings. Four wins and a single draw has enabled City to secure 13 points from a possible 15. This run has sent City up the standings, with the side now just five points behind Chicago in fifth. A win in this one would be a major statement for Orlando, but their away record is very poor. Three wins, two draws and seven defeats has seen City secure 11 of a possible 36 points on the road. While City have been better of late, I predict that they will see their unbeaten run brought to a grinding halt.

FC Dallas vs Austin FC

FC Dallas are part of a six-way tussle for top-spot in the Western Conference. Currently sat on 43 points and in third, Vancouver are three points ahead in first, while LAFC are three points behind in sixth. Any of the sides losing could see them surrender their position in what is becoming a pulsating race for the top. Three consecutive wins over Sporting Kansas, Minnesota United and Portland Timbers has kept Dallas in the hunt, and they will see their clash against lowly Austin FC as a big chance to secure their third consecutive win at home.

Austin FC have embarked on a much-improved run of late with their last six matches all going by without defeat. In this time they have won three matches and drawn three games. Interestingly, all three draws have been at home, while all three wins have been on the road. Despite their improved run, they have only won three matches away from home all season, with three ending in draws and the other seven culminating in defeat. Having lost four of their last five against Dallas and seeing both sides score in five of their last six, I am backing Austin to hit the back of the net as they slump to a defeat.

Verdict

I am backing both home sides to secure all three points despite failing to keep a clean sheet.
