UEFA Nations League Best Bets - September 27

Spain arrive for their opening match of the Nations League as the reigning European and world champions. With seven consecutive wins heading into this one, the Spanish have created a side that is able to pass any opponent into submission. The omission of a true striker that scores consistent goals like a Harry Kane or Erling Haaland is the one area in which they lack, but this has not stopped them from consistently beating whoever they play. While they will have their work cut out if they are to beat a strong English side, I back Spain to showcase their ability on the field as they secure a third win in their last four against England. 

Croatia were also disappointing at the 2026 World Cup as they were eliminated from the competition in the Round of 32. Their opening match ended in an entertaining 4-2 loss to England before they beat Panama 1-0 and Ghana 2-1. While they took on a Portuguese side they would have fancied their chances against, they were handed a stunning defeat as they conceded in injury time to lose the game 2-1. Now, attention turns to matches against Czechia, England and Spain. While anything can happen in a Nations League group, Croatia will know that a pair of wins over Czechia will likely see them keep their place in the top division. Croatia have won two of their last five against Czechia with the other three ending as draws. While the margins between the pair are slim, I am backing the travelling side to take the points in a battling win.
