Carlos Alcaraz vs Jiri Lehecka Preview & Tips

Carlos Alcaraz needed to be at his best in a 2-1 win over Jaume Munar as he came from a set down to secure the win.

Jiri Lehecka easily beat Valentin Vacherot in the semi-final of the Japan Open as he notched a 6-4 6-2 triumph.

  • Alcaraz has won 31 of his 35 matches this season (L4)

Head To Head

Alcaraz has won three of the four previous meetings between the pair with Lehecka winning the other match.

Carlos Alcaraz Form

Carlos Alcaraz has returned to the tennis court in good form, with his campaign at the Japan Open now a single win away from ending with a trophy.

While he has avoided defeat across his opening four, he has not had everything all his own way. Indeed, two wins in three sets have come alongside a 2-0 win over Matteo Arnaldi and a 1-0 win over Denis Shapovalov as his opponent was forced to retire in a 7-6 2-1 loss.

Despite being pushed across his last four outings, he has come out on top each time. Alcaraz will not underestimate his opponent, but he should have far too much for a player he has won three of his four previous matches against.

Jiri Lehecka Form

Jiri Lehecka has also impressed at the Japan Open, with a pair of 2-1 wins in the first and second rounds making way for 2-0 wins in the quarter-final and semi-final.

Against Valentin Vacherot in the semi-final, Lehecka only needed one break in the first set before winning the opening game of the second and never looking back. Ensuring you take your chances in the latter-stage of a tournament is vital, and that is exactly what Lehecka did as he stormed to a win.

Lehecka will have aspirations of notching a major upset, but when Alcaraz is in the mood, he is almost impossible to stop on the court. Lehecka will likely have to take the positives from an extended run at the Japan Open as he slumps to a frustrating defeat.

Verdict

I am backing Alcaraz to secure the Japan Open trophy on the back of a 2-0 win.
