Colombo Kaps vs Galle Gallants Preview & Tips
Colombo Kaps earned their place in the final qualifier on the back of an impressive 68-run win over Kandy in the last round.
Galle Gallants were edged out by Jaffna Kings in their last game as they slipped to a thrilling 14-run loss at the hands of their opponents.
- Colombo have won one of their last two matches (L1)
Head To Head
Galle have won five of their last 10 against Colombo, with the latter winning the other five meetings.
Colombo Kaps Form
Colombo Kaps ended the regular season in third after securing four wins across their eight matches. With three wins coming across their last five, they found form at the right time.
In the Eliminator, they were able to hammer Kandy in a statement 68-run win. After surging to 203/7, they skittled their opponents for 135 as they put on show just how far ahead of their opponents they were. Despite impressing in the Eliminator, Colombo will know they have to be even better if they are to defeat Galle.
Across the season, Colombo have won four matches and lost four times. Their last regular season match saw them beaten by their next opponents in a 13-run loss. This made it consecutive defeats against the Gallants in 2026, and I worry for the Kaps in this one. Teams often put in a huge performance in a knockout game and then struggle to replicate it in the next round. I predict that this is the fate that will befall Colombo.
Galle Gallants Form
Galle Gallants lost to Jaffna Kings in one of the games of the tournament as the pair shared in a match that resulted in 470 runs being scored.
Batting first, Jaffna smashed their way to 248/2 as Kamil Mishara (108 from 55) starred. In reply, Galle saw a number of batters make starts, but they lacked one big-scoring player to anchor the innings. With wickets falling in clusters, Galle slumped to 228/8, 14 short of the Kings.
This loss made it five wins and four defeats across the season for Galle. They have been very good at bouncing back from a loss, with the side yet to taste consecutive defeats this season. With this in mind, I back the Gallants to make it three successive wins over the Kaps in the T20 game.
Verdict
I am backing Galle to take their place in the grand final as they eliminate Colombo.
