Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview & Tips
Sunrisers Hyderabad know they will be appearing in the post-season of the IPL, but they are yet to confirm whether they will appear in the first Qualifier or the first Eliminator.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will play in the first Qualifier after storming to nine wins across their opening 13 matches.
- RCB have only lost four times this season (W9)
Head To Head
RCB have won five of their last 10 against SRH, with the latter winning the other five.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Form
Sunrisers Hyderabad rejuvenated their hopes of securing a top two spot with a commanding five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings that allowed them to bounce back from a stunning 82-run loss to Gujarat Titans in the game before.
SRH managed to restrict CSK to 180/7 in their penultimate match before storming to 181/5 in 19 overs. Ishan Kishan’s 70 from 47 helped to break the back of the chase as SRH moved onto 16 points. With GT also sat on 16 points, this one is a straight shootout between the pair for second place.
The major worry for SRH will be that RCB have been incredibly strong across the season. While the leaders may choose to rest some of their stars ahead of the Qualifier, it is more likely that RCB will look to double down on their three-game winning run as they look to head into the Qualifiers on the back of a win.
While I predict that SRH will give their opponents a strong test, I do not back them to secure the win as they are consigned to the first Eliminator.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Form
Royal Challengers Bangalore continue to impress in their IPL title defence, with the side still on course to retain the trophy.
Their last outing ended in a battling 23-run win over Punjab Kings that saw their winning-run stretched to three games. While Punjab Kings arrived on a five-game losing run, this can often see the pressure relieved on a side. However, PBKS were not given the chance to seriously challenge RCB as the latter stormed to 222/4 before restricting their opponents to 199/8.
Virat Kohli (58 from 37) continues to plunder runs in the IPL, and he will be key to RCB’s hopes of retaining their crown. In this crunch clash I predict that Kohli will end up on the right side of the score board as his RCB side secures the win.
Verdict
I am backing RCB to continue their winning run as they head into the playoffs on the back of another win.
