Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 1st T20 Preview & Tips
Zimbabwe were beaten by South Africa in their last T20, with their five-wicket loss seeing their T20 World Cup campaign end in defeat.
Bangladesh were hammered by Australia in their last T20 as they slumped to a seven-wicket loss at the hands of their opponents.
- Zimbabwe have lost five of their last six T20's against Bangladesh (W1)
Head To Head
Bangladesh have won seven of their last 10 T20's against Zimbabwe, with the latter winning the other three.
Zimbabwe Form
Zimbabwe arrive for their opening T20 on the back of an impressive run of three wins in four matches against Bangladesh across formats.
Their huge innings and 85-run win over Bangladesh in the Test-match format was quickly followed by the home side going 2-0 up in their ODI series after two matches. While they were beaten by seven wickets in their final T20, Zimbabwe are on course for three consecutive series wins over their opponents.
While they are the form team in this series, they have not been great in the T20 format. Indeed, defeats to the West Indies (by 107 runs), India (by 72 runs) and South Africa (by five wickets) has seen Zimbabwe struggle for momentum in each outing.
They also have a poor record against Bangladesh in the T20 game, losing five of their last six. While I do not see a big win coming for either side, I am backing against Zimbabwe in this one as they slip to a frustrating defeat in their opening T20.
Bangladesh Form
It has not been the multi-formats series Bangladesh would have been hoping for, with a 3-1 aggregate score seeing Bangladesh winning just once so far.
Added to their single ODI loss to Australia before they were beaten 3-0 in the T20 format by the same opponent, Bangladesh have now lost seven of their last eight across formats. Fortunately for Bangladesh, they have won three of their last seven in the shortest format, meaning they are not completely bereft of wins.
The focus in this one will be trying to ensure they do not give Zimbabwe easy runs or give their wickets away. If the touring side can put together a few partnerships and be miserly with the ball then there is no reason why they shouldn't win this one.
Verdict
I am backing Bangladesh to go 1-0 up in their T20 series against Zimbabwe as they end their four-game losing run in the shortest format.
