France vs Morocco Preview & Tips
France needed to keep their cool in their Round of 16 clash with Paraguay as the former edged through 1-0 in an ugly encounter.
Morocco hammered co-hosts Canada in a 3-0 win that will have the nation bubbling with confidence ahead of their quarter-final outing.
- Kylian Mbappe has scored seven goals at the World Cup in 2026
- France have won all five of their outings with over 2.5 goals scored four times
Head To Head
France have won three of their five previous meetings with Morocco, with the other two games ending as draws.
France Form
France have been outstanding at the 2026 World Cup, winning all three of their group games before beating Sweden and Paraguay to nil.
In the Round of 16 against Paraguay, France had to keep their cool as a combination of the referee losing control of the game and Paraguay deciding to be overly physical with France saw Kylian Mbappe and his teammates consistently cut down. Despite this, Mbappe stepped up and slotted the winner via the penalty spot as the only team that wanted to play football in their clash came out on top.
France have seen over 2.5 goals scored in four of their five World Cup games in 2026, but they have rarely looked like they will be outscored. Indeed, with the exception of their clash with Paraguay, France have scored three goals or more in each outing.
Mbappe has been central to their brilliant goal scoring, and I back him to be the main man in their clash with Morocco. Their opponents have seen over two goals scored in each of their last three, and I predict that the French will move into the semi-finals.
Morocco Form
Morocco were superb against Canada in the Round of 16 as their exceptional second-half display accounted for the co-hosts.
Morocco were strong at the back and turned the pressure on the co-hosts into three goals as they brought Canada’s fairy-tale to an end. While a 3-0 win flattered Morocco, they put their ability to keep the opposition out and score goals on full show.
Morocco have previous of giving good opponents a hard time, with 1-1 draws with both Brazil and the Netherlands showing they are no pushovers. I back them to give France a good game in the quarter-final, but I do not predict that they have enough to beat the best side at the tournament.
Verdict
I am backing Mbappe to continue his stunning run of goal scoring as he leads France into the World Cup semi-finals.
