Jaime Faria is looking to return to action for the first time since his frustrating 3-1 loss to Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open.

Terence Atmane has struggled this season, with his 41 outings in 2026 ending in just 17 wins.

Jaime Faria will hope that he can end a run of two defeats across his last three outings, with this including a 3-1 loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of the US Open.

While losing to Alcaraz is no embarrassment, Faria will have been hugely disappointed to have lost the match so comfortably considering he surged to a 6-4 win in the first set. Following his triumph in the opener, he was broken three consecutive times in the second set to lose 6-0 as the occasion seemed to get to him.

While he did get on the board in the third and fourth sets, his defeat was clear for all too see well before Alcaraz won the fourth set. Now, the focus will be on improving on a record of 11 wins in 17 hard court matches in 2026. While I believe Faria is the better of the pair, I do not see him winning this one cleanly, meaning I back him to triumph in three sets.

Terence Atmane Form

Terence Atmane has been enduring a frustrating season after winning just 17 matches and crumbling to 24 defeats.

His first round outing at the US Open ended in an entertaining 6-7 3-6 6-1 7-6 7-5 defeat to Jaume Antoni Munar Clar. This was a second successive defeat after he was eliminated in the third round in Cincinnati by Alexander Zverev. With five defeats coming across his last 10, Atmane has been poor.

Beating Faria is within Atmane's reach, but actually coming good on his talent is another thing entirely. While I back Atmane to take a set form his opponent, I do not predict that he will come out on top in a battling loss.
