Mirra Andreeva looked in great touch in her opening match at the Singapore Open as she easily beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-2 6-2.

Leylah Fernandez also enjoyed a solid showing in the second round as she eliminated Alycia Parks 6-4 6-3.

Andreeva has only lost nine of her 30 hard court matches this season (W21)

Mirra Andreeva gave Aliaksandra Sasnovich little to work with in their recent meeting as she broke her opponent in the first game of the first set and did not look back.

While she was broken early in the second set to tie the score up at 1-1, she showed her superior quality as she ran away with the win in a 6-2 6-2 triumph. Having taken six of seven break points on offer and securing 61 total points to Sasnovich's 36, Andreeva was clearly the worthy winner.

Now, attention switches to an opponent Andreeva has not had it all her own way against. Leylah Fernandez has notched two wins in four against Andreeva, with both coming on hard courts. With Andreeva looking to forge ahead in their head to head record, I am backing her to secure a 2-0 win over her opponent.

Leylah Fernandez has secured wins in straight sets against both Kyoka Okamura and Alycia Parks in the first and second rounds of the Singapore Open respectively.

In the second round, Fernandez was made to work slightly harder against Parks, but it was testament to her ability that she won fairly unscathed. This was Fernandez's sixth win across her last 10, with her two victories on hard courts in Singapore helping her towards parity for the season.

While Fernandez looked good in the first two rounds, eight defeats in 20 hard court outings in 2026 is a poor return, and I worry for her in this one. Two wins in four previous meetings with Andreeva is a good return, but I predict that she will go 3-2 down on the back of a 2-0 defeat.
