Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Women T20 Preview & Tips
Bangladesh Women began their Asia Cup campaign with a solid 71-run win over Indonesia in their last outing.
Sri Lanka have cruised to a pair of big wins at the Asia Cup, with the side on course for a perfect group-stage campaign.
- Sri Lanka have won six of their last seven T20's across competitions (L1)
Head To Head
Sri Lanka have won nine of their last 10 T20's against Bangladesh, with the latter winning once back in 2023.
Bangladesh Form
Bangladesh Women head into their second game of the 2026 Asia Cup hoping to move level on points with Sri Lanka at the summit of Group B.
Their opener against Indonesia saw them labour to a score of 129/8 in their 20 overs. While their batters struggled, their bowling unit was able to win them the game with ease as they skittled Indonesia for just 58. Their 71-run win was an excellent performance, although the quality of opposition is something that means their big win needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have been poor. Their last seven T20 meetings have all ended in defeat, while Bangladesh have lost two of their last three. With a game against the UAE to come, Bangladesh will know it is not a necessity to win this match, although losing to Sri Lanka once again will further underline how far away from the better sides they still are.
Sri Lanka Form
Sri Lanka have shown no mercy at the Asia Cup in 2026, easily beating both the UAE and Indonesia to storm to the top of their group.
Their wins have been built on their ability to tear the opposition apart with the ball. Indeed, skittling the UAE for 79 in their opener was followed by bowling Indonesia out for 49. Their batting unit looked very good in their nine-wicket win over the former, although they trundled to 124/7 in their 75-run win over the latter.
Sri Lanka are the strongest side in their group and they will want to underline their dominance with a win over Bangladesh. Their excellent run against their opponents means they are the big favourites to win this one, and I back Sri Lanka to end their group-stage campaign with three successive wins.
Verdict
I am backing Sri Lanka to defeat Bangladesh as the former move into the semi-finals having won their opening three matches.
