England vs India 3rd T20 Preview & Tips
England were outstanding in the second T20 as they put India's bowling line-up to the sword as they secured a four-wicket win over the touring side.
India had no answer for England's middle-order as the bowlers of the touring side crumbled when trying to defend 190 runs.
- Harry Brook is averaging 30.30 in the T20 game for England
- England have won six of their last seven in the T20 game (L1)
Head To Head
England have secured wins in four of their last 10 T20's against India with the latter winning the other six matches.
England Form
England had a day to remember in Manchester in the second T20 as Harry Brook (39 from 15) Jacob Bethell (76 not out) and Tom Banton (39) starred in the run chase for the home side.
Sam Curran was the danger-man with the ball as he took 3/33, but India still managed to battle their way to a competitive looking 190/7. Jos Buttler (nought from three) and Phil Salt (first ball duck) both fell in the first over as England found themselves 1/2. Despite their woeful start, Brook and Banton played supporting roles for Bethell who hammered his way to an unbeaten 76 as the number four won the game for England.
England will now travel to Trent Bridge looking to secure a win that will ensure they cannot lose the series. Four wins in their last 10 T20's against India is hardly a sparkling record, but they have won eight of their last 10 in the T20 game.
Harry Brook may not have taken the headlines in the second T20, but his short stay of 15 deliveries saw him score 39 runs at 260.00. I back him to play a starring role for the home side as they go 2-0 up in the series.
India Form
India struggled to contain England's explosive batting unit as they let the chance to go 1-0 up in their series pass them by.
Questions over the run scoring of their middle and lower-order remain, with Shivam Dube, Axar Patel and Harshit Rana all going for single-figure scores as India looked to accelerate. With the ball, they failed to take advantage of having England at 1/2 after five deliveries. While Brook and Banton did fall for 39 runs each, they could not find a way to remove Bethell, with the number four proving the game-changer.
Worrying for India will be that four of their five frontline bowlers went for 9.25 runs an over or more. While six wickets did fall, they did not fall quickly enough to stem the flow of runs. India will always feel they have victory within their grasp, such is the quality in their team. However, England have been brilliant in the T20 game of late, and I back them to get over the line in the third T20.
Verdict
I am backing captain Brook to lead England to victory as they go 2-0 up in their series against India.
