Zimbabwe return to the Test match arena for the first time since their impressive innings and 73-run win over Afghanistan back in October of 2025.

In their battle to become a genuine force in the longest format, Zimbabwe have played more, but they have not been able to win consistently enough. Their last 10 have resulted in eight defeats and two wins, with a victory over Bangladesh in April of 2025 and Zimbabwe in their last game seeing them find wins tough to come by.

At home, Zimbabwe will be confident that they can challenge. However, they have not been great against their opponents. Indeed, eight of their last 10 meetings in the longest format have ended in defeat, and this one looks like it will end in another loss for the home side.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh have been outstanding across their last four Tests with a string of wins ensuring they arrive for this one in great form.

While their brace of wins over Ireland saw Bangladesh impress, their wins over Pakistan constitute their biggest results. Beating Pakistan by 104 runs and 78 runs saw Bangladesh announce themselves as serious contenders in the Test game. While Pakistan are one of the weaker top nations, they are still a tier one side, meaning Bangladesh's wins were incredibly impressive.

Against Pakistan, Bangladesh's attack with both bat and ball impressed. Pakistan were twice bowled out for less than 240, while Bangladesh made 240 runs or more in each of their four innings. Their ability to knit together strong performances with bat and ball saw Pakistan put under constant pressure, and it ultimately told.

Najmul Hossain Shanto has looked good across 2026, averaging 58.00 with a top score of 101. As captain, he will be looking to lead from the front with the bat, and I predict that he will score well with the bat for the touring side.
