Jessica Pegula vs Emma Navarro Preview & Tips
Jessica Pegula has been excellent at the 2026 US Open, dropping a single set across her opening four matches.
Emma Navarro has also impressed at the competition in 2026, with her 6-4 6-2 win over Anna Kalinskaya in the fourth round a very good result.
- Pegula has won 33 of her 40 on hard courts this season (L7)
Head To Head
The pair have met four times before, with Pegula winning all four meetings including a 2-0 victory at the Cincinnati Open in August.
Jessica Pegula Form
Jessica Pegula will feel she has a very strong claim for the US Open crown in 2026 after storming to 33 wins in 40 hard court matches this season.
Simple wins over Elena Gabriela Ruse, Sofia Kenin, Leylah Annie Fernandez and Sorana Cristea have underlined her ability to swat supposedly inferior opponents aside. Indeed, her win over Cristea was built on storming into a 3-0 lead in the first set, while she went 4-1 up in the second. If an opponent allows Pegula to go three games ahead, it will invariably end in defeat as she does not often take her foot off the accelerator.
Against Navarro, Pegula will target starting well and not letting her opponent build any momentum. Pegula has won all four of her previous meetings against her opponent with the last ending in a straight sets win. I back Pegula to underline her claim to the US Open title with another 2-0 win in the quarter-final.
Emma Navarro Form
Emma Navarro has enjoyed an excellent run at the 2026 US Open, with a pair of 2-1 wins coming alongside two straight sets victories in her last two outings.
Lois Boisson and Caty McNally took her into a decider, but Karolina Muchova and Anna Kalinskaya fell in 2-0 defeats. While the quality of opponent has risen, Navarro has not looked flustered as she continues to grow into the tournament.
While Navarro is now only two wins away from the final of a major Slam, I predict that old failings will come back to haunt her in this one. Across her career, Navarro has lost 76 times on hard courts whilst winning the other 98. This season, she has lost 12 of her 22 on hard courts, winning 10 times. Of her four meetings with Pegula, Navarro has met her three times on hard courts, losing each match.
While Navarro has the quality to challenge anyone on her day, I predict that she will slump to a hugely frustrating loss as her wait for a win over Pegula goes on.
Verdict
I am backing Pegula to secure a 2-0 win over Navarro as she moves into the semi-finals of the US Open.
