Colombo Kaps vs Jaffna Kings Preview & Tips

Colombo Kaps looked good in their last outing against Kandy Royals as they surged to a six-wicket win.

Jaffna Kings were also able to secure their first win of the new season as they handed the Dambulla Sixers a five-wicket defeat.

Colombo have won two of their last 10 T20 matches against Jaffna, with the latter winning the other eight.

Colombo Kaps knew they needed a big performance against Kandy in their second match after they were handed a chastening five-wicket loss at the hands of Galle Marvels in their opener.

In their last match with Kandy, Colombo restricted their opponents to 179 in 20 over before storming to a six-wicket win with two deliveries to spare. Janith Liyanage (53 not out from 32) and James Neesham (48 not out from 36) starred in the chase as the pair notched 11 boundaries and three maximums between them.

Now, Colombo’s focus will be on providing another dangerous bowling display along with consistent batting. While Liyanage and Neesham were excellent in their last game, they will want to see their top three return more than the combined six runs they provided last time out. If their top-order can fire, I back them to go well and secure consecutive wins.

Jaffna Kings Form

Like Colombo, Jaffna Kings needed to bounce back from a defeat in their opener after losing to Galle Marvels by 36 runs.

In their second match, Jaffna bowled Dambulla Sixers out for just 130. They then stormed to a five-wicket win as Bhanuka Rajapaksa starred with 61 not out from 37. As has been the case in a number of other matches, top order batters have struggled to get going so far.

While the pair have returned the same form after their opening two matches, I am backing against the Kings. They leant heavily on a brilliant bowling display in their second game, but is this likely to happen again? Meanwhile, the Kaps looked good with the ball but still needed their batting unit to fire, which is exactly what they did.

While I predict this will be a tight clash, I am backing against Jaffna in this one.
