MI London vs Sunrisers Leeds Preview & Tips
Oval Invincibles, now rebranded as MI London, are looking to start the defence of the title they won in 2025 with a win as they face Sunrisers Leeds.
Sunrisers Leeds, formerly known as Northern Superchargers, finished third in The Hundred in 2025 after a solid campaign.
- MI London have won their last two outings
Head To Head
The pair have met four times before, with MI winning twice and Sunrisers winning twice.
MI London Form
Oval Invincibles have been the team to beat in The Hundred, winning three of the five previous iterations of the competition including the titles in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Now, MI London will take on the mantle of a side looking to secure a fourth consecutive title in the men's game.
In 2025, MI London stormed to six wins in their eight group games as they finished at the summit via their net run rate. Advancing straight to the final, MI made the most out of avoiding the Eliminator with a comfortable 26-run win over Trent Rockets in the final.
Starting the season with a win is crucial, especially with the target MI will have on their backs. They have been the best side across the last few seasons and look tough to beat. A strong squad that includes Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Rashid Khan, Trent Boult, Jason Roy and James Vince will be very tough to stop, and I back them to get off to winning ways in their opener.
Sunrisers Leeds Form
Sunrisers Leeds finished the 2025 season in third place and were denied a shot in the Eliminator by the weather. Their inferior league placement compared to the Trent Rockets saw them knocked out, with five wins and three defeats seeing them finish four points short of the top two.
Heading into the new season, they face the toughest test of them all. Travelling to take on the three-times champions is a horrible way to start a season.
Despite this, they do offer some real quality with bat and ball. Harry Brook is the headliner in the side, with Mitchell Marsh, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Ryan Rickelton and Matthew Potts providing international quality in their ranks.
The issue for Sunrisers will be matching up to the most consistent side in the tournament. While they did beat their opponents last season, MI will arrive with a point to prove as they look to hit the ground running. With this in mind, I predict that Sunrisers will have to find remain content with helping to raise the curtain on the season, rather than winning the opener.
Verdict
I am backing MI London to begin their hunt for a fourth consecutive Hundred title with a win.
