Sunrisers Leeds vs London Spirit Preview & Tips
Sunrisers Leeds came within five runs of a stunning win over top of the table Trent Rockets in their last outing.
London Spirit slumped to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Southern Brave last time out as their disappointing campaign in 2026 went on.
- Both of the Sunrisers wins in 2026 have come at home
- The Spirit have lost three of their four this season (W1)
Head To Head
Sunrisers have won three of the five previous meetings between the sides with the Spirit winning the other two.
Sunrisers Leeds Form
Sunrisers Leeds have been enduring an inconsistent Hundred campaign, with the side securing four points from a possible eight. Perfection at home has come alongside a pair of failures on the road, with the Sunrisers clearly feast or famine depending on where they play.
Despite their issues on the road, there have been signs of improvement. Indeed, their last away game saw them come to within five runs of beating the Trent Rockets. Mitchell Marsh (41 from 35) and Harry Brook (46 from 33) brought the fireworks and, on a different day, the Sunrisers would have taken the points.
While they have frustrated on the road, wins over Southern Brave and Manchester Super Giants at home shows the Sunrisers are building a strong base on their own patch. Meanwhile, they boast consecutive wins over the Spirit, and if Marsh and Brook continue to score runs freely, then the home side will likely win this one.
London Spirit Form
The London Spirit have struggled for wins and consistency this season, with a single win in four outings seeing them sink down to seventh in the standings, only spared bottom by their slightly superior net run rate to Birmingham Phoenix.
Their last game against Southern Brave saw the Spirit stumble to 105 all out as they failed to create an imposing target. Jonny Bairstow looked good for his 56 from 43, but seven single figure scores between the other 10 batters saw the Spirit go from 56/2 after 55 deliveries to 105 all out.
With the ball, the Spirit were right in the game as they had the Brave reeling at 60/5. However, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs combined to get the Brave home. This was their third defeat of the season and has seriously dented any hopes of securing a top three berth.
With defeats in their last two and consecutive defeats at the hands of their next opponents, I back the Spirit to slump to another loss.
Verdict
I am backing the Sunrisers to secure a third consecutive home win as they defeat the Spirit once again.
