Aryna Sabalenka cruised past Taylor Townsend in the fourth round as she continued her trend of winning 2-0 at the 2026 US Open.

Linda Noskova was brilliant against Marta Kostyuk in the last round as she came out on top in a stunning 7-5 5-7 6-4 victory.

Sabalenka has won the two previous meetings between the pair with both wins coming without the former dropping a set.

Aryna Sabalenka has been far too strong for any of her recent opponents, with the US Open champion not dropping more than seven games in any of her four outings so far.

Her 6-4 6-3 win over Taylor Townsend was something of a strange match as the pair traded breaks in the opening set. Indeed, neither held their serve until Sabalenka went 4-2 up, although she did then lose her own serve a few games later. While Sabalenka eventually proved too strong for her opponent, this was not the simple win the scoreline might suggest.

Sabalenka will aim for another straight sets win in the quarter-final and I back her to secure this. It is worth noting that her margin of victory has been shrinking, but I do not see the best player at the competition being truly tested yet.

Linda Noskova Form

Linda Noskova began the US Open with a pair of 2-0 wins but has since traded these victories for a pair of battling 2-1 victories to secure her place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Her 6-2 6-7 6-2 win over Ann Li was more comfortable than a 7-5 5-7 6-4 win over Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round that swayed back and forth. Neither of the pair looked overly comfortably on their own serve with 11 total breaks of serve occurring across the three sets.

Noskova has impressed across the 2026 season so far with 35 wins coming from her 48 matches. Less impressive is a record of 15 wins and eight defeats in 23 hard court matches in 2026. Having lost her two previous matches against Sabalenka, I predict that Noskova will slump to a third consecutive 2-0 loss to her opponent.
