Jaime Faria vs Carlos Alcaraz Preview & Tips
Jaime Faria is aiming to secure the result of the US Open so far as he takes on Carlos Alcaraz in the second round.
Carlos Alcaraz remained untroubled in his 2026 US Open first round match as he beat Roman Safiullin 6-4 6-4 6-4.
- Alcaraz has won 143 of his 174 matches on hard courts across his career (L31)
Head To Head
This will be the first time the pair have met in a competitive tennis match.
Jaime Faria Form
Jaime Faria needed to be at his resilient best in the first round of the US Open as he rallied from seeing a 2-0 lead over Jenson Brooksby vanish before he eventually won 3-2 against his spirited opponent.
This five-sets win may not have been ideal, but it was a welcome return to winning ways after losing 7-5 6-2 to Lorenzo Musetti in the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open. This loss had put an end to an impressive run that had seen him beat Ben Shelton 6-4 6-4 in the second round in Cincinnati.
While Faria has the ability to seriously challenge the best, he is outmatched against Alcaraz. His opponent is the player to beat at the competition this year, and I predict that all his hard work in the first round will be for little as he is eliminated in a 3-0 loss.
Carlos Alcaraz Form
Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed a very impressive return to the tennis court as his 3-0 win over Roman Safiullin ensured that his first outing since April ended in a big win.
Alcaraz looked largely untroubled across the first round of the US Open, although returning from injury is rarely something that goes off without a hitch. It will be interesting to see how Alcaraz performs across what will feel like a very long two week tournament.
After spending just two hours and 22 minutes on the court in the first round, I am backing Alcaraz to secure consecutive 3-0 wins as he eliminates Faria in the second round.
Verdict
I am backing Alcaraz to eliminate Faria without dropping a set.
